The Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu is one of the most prestigious and most distinguished academic institutions in Cebu. It is a private Catholic school run by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) that offers early education (nursery and kindergarten), grade school (elementary), junior high school, and senior high school. All its academic departments are located in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu was formerly known as Sacred Heart School for Boys and used to be located at General Maxilom Avenue (known colloquially as Mango Avenue). In fact, longtime residents of Cebu still sometimes refer to the school as “Sacred Heart.” However, the school changed its name in 2010 to Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu and it is now usually referred to simply as Ateneo de Cebu. And although it was originally an all-boys school, Ateneo de Cebu has been accepting both male and female students for over two decades now. Its students are referred to as “Hearters.”

How much is the tuition fee at Ateneo de Cebu?

If you have been thinking of sending your child to Ateneo de Cebu and tried looking up the tuition fee online, you might have had a challenging time finding official information because the school’s website does not publish its school fees.

We had the same experience and so we had to personally go to the school to ask for up-to-date information about their tuition fees. However, we know that not everyone has the luxury of time yet to go to the Ateneo de Cebu campus, especially as some interested families might not be currently living in the Metro Cebu area. Of course, prospective Hearters would still have to go to the school anyway to actually apply for entrance, but we know a lot of parents who like to plan their financial outlays ahead of time who would therefore benefit from being able to easily get tuition fee information online.

For this reason, we thought it would be helpful if we shared the information that we got from Ateneo here.

Note: The tuition fees listed below do not yet include the following, which need to be paid in full upon enrollment:

  • Books
  • PTA fee of ₱500 per family

Ateneo de Cebu Tuition Fees for Early Education (Preschool)

There are three levels in the Ateneo de Cebu Early Education (or preschool) department: Nursery 1, Nursery 2, and Kindergarten. These are the respective annual fees for each level:

  • Nursery 1 – ₱ 63,386
  • Nursery 2 – ₱ 59,546
  • Kindergarten – ₱ 61,496

The fees above are good for the whole school year and may be paid straight (one-time) upon enrollment.

However, the total fee may also be broken up into three “semestral fees” at no extra cost. This gives parents a chance to spread out their tuition expenses throughout the year without having to pay more. The semestral fees for each early education level, to be paid three times throughout the year, are as follows:

  • Nursery 1 – ₱ 21,129
  • Nursery 2 – ₱ 19,849
  • Kindergarten – ₱ 20,499

These semestral fees are paid three times, usually: (1) upon enrollment, (2) at the end of October, and (3) at the end of January. The last payment is usually a few pesos less than the first two payments and the total of all three payments are equal to the annual fee.

Finally, parents may also choose the “pay light option” for the school fees, which means that the annual fee is divided into six installments, still at no extra cost. As with the semestral fees, the last payment is usually a few pesos less than the first five payments, and the total of all six payments is still equal to the annual fee. With that in mind, here are the “pay light option” fees for each preschool level to be paid six times through the year:

  • Nursery 1 – ₱ 10,565
  • Nursery 2 – ₱ 9,925
  • Kindergarten – ₱ 10,250

Ateneo de Cebu Tuition Fees for Grade School (Elementary)

Ateneo de Cebu’s Grade School department consists of Grades 1 through 6 and their fees are set up in much the same way as in early childhood. Parents can pay either:

  1. the annual fee all at once; OR
  2. the semestral fee three times (3x) throughout the school year at no extra cost; OR
  3. the “pay light option” fee six times (6x) throughout the school year at no extra cost.

Here are the tuition and other school fees for each Grade School level.

Annual fees:

  • Grade 1 – ₱ 75,193
  • Grade 2 – ₱ 75,043
  • Grade 3 – ₱ 77,971
  • Grade 4 – ₱ 77,881
  • Grade 5 – ₱ 78,733
  • Grade 6 – ₱ 83,252

Semestral fees (x3):

  • Grade 1 – ₱ 25,065
  • Grade 2 – ₱ 25,015
  • Grade 3 – ₱ 25,991
  • Grade 4 – ₱ 25,961
  • Grade 5 – ₱ 26,245
  • Grade 6 – ₱ 27,751

“Pay light option” (x6):

  • Grade 1 – ₱ 12,533
  • Grade 2 – ₱ 12,508
  • Grade 3 – ₱ 12,996
  • Grade 4 – ₱ 12,981
  • Grade 5 – ₱ 13,123
  • Grade 6 – ₱ 13,876

Ateneo de Cebu Tuition Fees for Junior High School (Grade 7-10)

As with the fees for early education and grade school, parents have three options for paying the school fees for Junior High School, that is, Grades 7 to 10, at Ateneo de Cebu.

Parents may choose to pay these annual fees at one time (upon enrollment):

  • Grade 7 – ₱ 93,800
  • Grade 8 – ₱ 93,971
  • Grade 9 – ₱ 97,835
  • Grade 10 – ₱ 99,798

It’s also possible for parents to break up the school fees into three semestral fees at no extra cost to them:

  • Grade 7 – ₱ 31,300
  • Grade 8 – ₱ 31,324
  • Grade 9 – ₱ 32,612
  • Grade 10 – ₱ 33,266

Lastly, parents can opt for the “pay light option” in which the annual fee is broken up into six installments to be paid throughout the school year:

  • Grade 7 – ₱ 15,650
  • Grade 8 – ₱ 15,662
  • Grade 9 – ₱ 16,306
  • Grade 10 – ₱ 16,633

For the semestral and pay light options, the last payment is usually (although not always) a few pesos less than the first two or first five payments, respectively. In both cases, the total fee paid will have been the same as the annual fee, so it will not cost you more if you choose, say, the pay light option.

Ateneo de Cebu Tuition Fees for Senior High School (Grade 11-12)

Ateneo de Cebu offers senior high school (Grade 11 and Grade 12) in the following academic tracks:

  1. Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM)
  2. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
  3. Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS)
  4. General Academic Strand (GAS)

Regardless of academic track, the annual fees for each level in senior high school are as follows:

  • Grade 11 – ₱ 103,694
  • Grade 12 – ₱ 107,299

Parents of senior high school students at Ateneo de Cebu can also opt to pay the school fees as two separate semestral fees at no additional cost. Take note that this differs from the semestral option at lower grade levels in that the total fee is broken up into only two payments (instead of three) throughout the school year in senior high school. The semestral fees for senior high school at Ateneo de Cebu are as follows:

  • Grade 11 – ₱ 51,847
  • Grade 12 – ₱ 53,650

Finally, the “pay light option” – in which the total school fees are divided into six installments throughout the school year – is still available in senior high school. The payment due for each installment is as follows:

  • Grade 11 – ₱ 17,283
  • Grade 12 – ₱ 17,884

As with the other year levels, the last payment for the semestral and pay light options are usually a few pesos less than the previous payments, bringing the total fees to the same amount as would have been paid if the annual fees were paid at one time.

Final Notes About Ateneo de Cebu Tuition Fees

Overall, Ateneo de Cebu has one of the highest school fees among all schools in Cebu, but what’s great about them is that they let parents break up the fees into smaller installments at no additional cost.

Again, in addition to the school fees listed above, each Hearter family also has to pay ₱500 for the PTA fee (only once per family) and purchase books upon enrollment.
