If, like me, you are a regular Shopee user, you may have noticed that their default courier is now their in-house logistics provider, Shopee Xpress.
In my case — that is, for deliveries to the area I live in — I only have the option for “standard local.” There are also some products for which the “economy delivery” option is also available but they are relatively rare.
Over the past year or so, there was a period when the “standard local” courier for our area was J&T Express. That was also the time when I had a lot of Shopee purchases so I really became familiar with how J&T Express operated. (And no, for the record, I am not affiliated with them in any way.)
Now, of course, this makes sense to Shopee from a business standpoint, keeping their courier in-house and thus being able to lower costs. And my experience with Shopee Xpress has actually been okay. In the first month or so, there were some delays — when packages would sit in the delivery hub for a couple of days before eventually reaching our house — but I haven’t experienced any significant delay recently.
That said, I still prefer to have my packages delivered by J&T.
I know that how you feel about this would probably depend on how reliable J&T are in your area but, where I live, they’ve really been performing well – better than average. The drivers already know where exactly our house is even if it isn’t on the main road. They already know that there is always someone at home and don’t have to ask if someone can receive a delivery. It has gotten to the point that, aside from the automatic system message sent out by J&T itself, the drivers don’t message us anymore beforehand, which we like because we don’t have to spend time texting them back or answering their call. They just show up outside our house and we get our package. Hassle-free and easy.
And so it made me ridiculously happy to learn that you can actually choose to have your package delivered by J&T Express. (I say “ridiculously happy” because it’s not supposed to be a big deal, right, like, it’s just a courier. But when I found out, I immediately called my father and my sister to tell them the good news. And they were happy to learn about it too. We all know the J&T couriers assigned to our neighborhood and we would refer to them by name when we ask each other to keep an ear out for deliveries.)
Anyway, I found out how to change couriers from Shopee Xpress to J&T Express when I bought items from a seller who, it turns out, also prefers to deal with J&T. I didn’t ask why but their preference for J&T was such that they actually take the time to instruct their buyers on how to get J&T assigned to pick up and deliver their package.
But – and this is important! – you can only do it within a limited period of time so pay attention to the instructions below.
Here’s the key: you don’t choose couriers before making your order. You choose couriers after you place your order — specifically, within 1 hour after ordering.
Here are the steps:
And that’s it! The Shipping Information section of your order will now show that your package will be delivered by standard local, J&T Express.
Remember: you have to do this within 1 hour after placing your order so do it as soon as possible.
