Mga pagdiriwang can be:
- religious – mga pagdiriwang na panrelihiyon
- civic (secular) – mga pagdiriwang na pansibiko
Some pagdiriwang are considered public holidays in the Philippines while others are not.
Mga panrelihiyong pagdiriwang refer to religious celebrations in the Philippines.
Due to several hundred years of Spanish rule, Catholic festivals are a dime a dozen throughout the country, but Muslim holidays are also observed either nationally or locally.
Muslim holidays in the Philippines
- National
- Eid al-Adha – Culmination of the fasting month of Ramadan
- Eid al-Fitr – Feast of sacrifice
- Locally observed
- Amun Jadid – Islamic new year
- Isra Wal Miraj – Night journey and ascension of Prophet Mohammad – Gabi ng Isra at Mi’raj
- Mauldin Nabi – Prophet Muhammad’s birthday – Araw ng Kapanganakan ni Propetang Muhammad
Christian (mostly Catholic) religious festivals in the Philippines:
- January 9 – Feast of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo)
- January, 3rd Sunday – Sinulog Festival (Cebu)
- January, 3rd Sunday – Ati-Atihan Festival (Aklan)
- January, 4th Sunday – Dinagyang Festival (Iloilo)
- March/April, dates vary – Holy Week, particularly the Paschal Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Black Saturday) and Easter Sunday
- March/April, during Holy Week – Moriones Festival (Marinduque)
- May, whole month – Flores de Mayo
- September, 3rd Sunday – Peñafrancia Festival (Naga)
- October, 4th Sunday – MassKara Festival (Bacolod)

Mga pansibikong pagdiriwang refer to civic, non-religious celebrations in the Philippines.
Some may be national public holidays, such as:
- June 12 – Independence Day (Araw ng Kalayaan)
- August, last Monday – National Heroes’ Day (Araw ng mga Bayani)
Others may be celebrated only in relevant localities (panlokal na pansibikong pagdiriwang) such as:
- February, whole month – Panagbenga Festival
- February 24 – Cebu City Charter Day
- March 10-16 – Araw ng Dabaw
- April 27 – Kadaugan sa Mactan / Lapulapu Day
- June 24 – Araw ng Maynila
Others are not public holidays but are still celebrated by Filipinos at home or in school:
